Oracles of the Pink Universe
Oracles of the Pink Universe accompanies Simphiwe Ndzube's exhibition of the same title, his first US museum solo, at the Denver Art Museum. The exhibition and catalogue offer 'an expansion of Ndzube’s practice of unpacking difficult South African histories through mythological narratives'. Inspired by Hieronymus Bosch’s painting The Garden of Earthly Delights (1490-1510), the new installations depict a theatrical space where Heaven, Earth and Hell intersect. The catalogue encompasses earlier works in addition to new, and includes texts by museum curators Laura F Almeida and Rebecca R Hart, and Ndzube's fellow artist Phumelele Tshabalala.
