Robin Rhode

Rhode was born in 1976 in Cape Town, and lives in Berlin. Major museum solo exhibitions have taken place at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Israel in 2017;  S.M.A.K Gent, Belgium and Kulturhuset Stadsteatern in Stockholm, in 2015; Neuberger Museum of Art, Purchase College, State University of New York; Kunstmuseum Luzern, Switzerland in 2014; National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, in 2013; Wexner Center for the Arts, Columbus (2009); Hayward Gallery, London (2008); Haus der Kunst, Munich (2007); and the Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University in Massachusetts in 2004.

Notable group exhibitions include Art/Afrique, le nouvel atelier at Fondation Louis Vuitton (2017); What remains is tomorrow, the South African Pavilion at the 56th Venice Biennale (2015); the 12th Havana Biennial, Between the Idea and Experience; Passo a due (Step Two): The Avant-gardes of Motion, Museo MAN, Sardinia, Italy (2014); More Light, Moscow Biennale (2013); the 18th Sydney Biennale, All Our Relations (2012); Staging Action: Performance in Photography Since 1960, Museum of Modern Art, New York (2011); The Dissolve, 8th Site Santa Fe Biennale, New Mexico (2010); Prospect.1 New Orleans, 1st New Orleans Biennial (2008); New Photography, Museum of Modern Art, New York (2005); the 51st Venice Biennale (2005); and How Latitudes Become Forms, Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, and other venues (2003-5).

Rhode is the recipient of the 2018 Zurich Art Prize.
